Hi Guys and Gals,

So this isn’t really about six packs but I wanted to ask for your opinion on something. The new Tracey Anderson DVD is out here in the UK and I was wondering what you thought of it? It’s had fantastic reviews and I was impressed with her when she talked on Radio 1. Here’s some info:

The purpose of this Mat Workout DVD is to re-engineer your muscular structure, wake up your accessory muscles, pull in your larger muscles and shift your shape into something you never knew you could achieve. The DVD is the perfect companion to my Dance Cardio Workout DVD but equally can be done on its own - the moves are easy to follow and provide amazing results. No specialist equipment required–Tracy recommends weight exercises for the arms to be performed using a 500ml bottle of water in each hand.

Click the link if you want to learn more about it. You might laugh and say it’s too feminine - but I’ve heard this stuff really works. After all, what’s the point of having a sic pack if you can’t see it through the fat?

So this is obviously great for women, but is it also good for men?

Quite possibly one of the most common and widely sought goals concerning training and physical culture is the elusive six pack stomach. The six pack is a common goal for people across all social and economic lines. Nothing is considered a better hallmark for a sound and sexy body than toned abs.

The problem is that although there is a tremendous wealth of information concerning the six pack as well as a number of different techniques, regimens, and theories which are available to purportedly allow anyone to develop a set of well defined abdominal muscles people have yet to stop making common mistakes in their quest for six pack abs.

So, what are the most common mistakes people make when attempting to develop six pack stomach muscles? We will go over some of the most significant and common problems below.

Not drinking enough water.

Believe it or not, one of the most common mistakes concerning increasing your metabolism to shed the abdominal fat which is covering up your six pack is insufficient intake of water. Water is absolutely essential to increased metabolism, and increased metabolism is essential for attaining a six pack stomach.

Focus on diet as opposed to training.

Many people believe that through dieting they will attain the elusive six pack. The fact if the matter is that dieting is not the most effective way to shed unwanted pounds. Proper training is much more important than starving oneself. Interestingly, an extreme calorie deficit will actually slow down your metabolism as opposed to speeding it up, and may increase the time it takes for your six pack abdomen to show.

Doing endless sets of crunches in hope of toning the midsection.

Believe it or not, you can attain a six pack stomach without a single crunch. Many people believe that repetitive sets of abdominal crunches will send them well on their way to a six pack. This is a widely held misconception that is wrong for many reasons, but the two main ones are that it will burn the fat around the abdomen, and it will build the abdominal muscles. The fact is that a more efficient way of burning abdominal fat is through high intensity interval cardio and multiple joint weight lifting like squats and deadlifts. Secondly, crunches are not the most effective way to build abdominal strength, because hip flexors do most of the work when crunches are being performed.

In light of the common misconceptions concerning the elusive six pack , it is no wonder it remains elusive and seemingly unattainable for many of us. If you simply focus on what works and discard what doesn’t, you should be one step closer on your journey towards a stomach to be proud of.

Latest research suggests that if you want six pack abdominals anda a physique like a 100 meter sprinter, then less is actually more. So what's the best cardio for a six pack?

This is a great article I found by Roger, take a read….

Cardio For Six Pack Abs
By Roger Ruzzier

Cardiovascular training or cardio as we know it, is an aerobic solution that allows for more oxygen to be pumped through your body and hence burn more energy, muscle or fat. Latest research suggests that if you want six pack abdominals anda a physique like a 100 meter sprinter, then less is actually more. So what’s the best cardio for a six pack?

H.I.T.T. - High Intensity Interval Training.

What is it? Well it basically makes you work slightly harder with less time. So forget about the age old notion of spending hours on the treadmill. All you really need is 20 minutes, at a varied pace. Here is why, new research has found that long state steady cardio can actually start burning muscle for energy. Now, muscle is your fat burner, yes, the more lean muscle you have the higher your metabolism. So why would you want to burn your muscles?

On the other hand HITT is anaerobic, like weight training, as the intensity is varied. After a resistance training session your metabolism is continually raised as it tries to repair your body. Enter Interval Training, which is exactly the same. After slow and boring low intensity cardio your metabolism returns to normal, however with HITT your body’s’ metabolism is raised for up to the next 24 hours, sometimes up to 48 hours! So train with Intensity.

So when it comes to cardio for a six pack, next time your at the gym on your chosen cardio machine or going for a jog…try this. For the next 20 minutes -

Warm up for 4 minutes.

Run at 8.0 kmh for 1 minute (your level 6-7)

Walk or slow jog at 5-6 kmh for 2 minutes (your level 5)

Run at 9.0 kmh for 1 minute (your level 7-8)

Walk or slow jog at 5-6 kmh for 2 minutes (your level 5)

Run at 10.0 kmh for 1 minute (your level 8-9)

Walk or slow jog at 5-6 kmh for 2 minutes (your level 5)

Run at 11.0 kmh for 1 minute (your level 9-10)

Walk or slow jog at 5-6 kmh for 2 minutes (your level 5)

Cool down for 4 minutes.

Above is a hill style of HITT training. There are many more. I will finish asking you a question when it comes to cardio for six pack abs. Would you prefer to look like a marathon sprinter who runs at a constant steady pace for a long period of time or would you like to look like a muscular 100m sprinter?

There are so many guides around which claim to give you six pack abs, but does this one really work? Lets find out….

(P.s. you can get a free preview here)

The Truth About Six Pack Abs Overview

In essence, The Truth About Six Pack Abs take you step by step through everything you need to know about getting a six pack, and does it very well. This isn’t a perfect product by any means, but is by far the best ab building guide out there and can actually produce results for anyone. Men, women, young or old, the techniques apply to all.

Score (out of five):

What you’ll learn

Put simply, you’ll learn how to get a six pack. That’s what you would want from this kind of product right? The best thing is that the huge amounts of information you get about how to do it along with the step by step approach means that if you have the willpower you can’t really fail.

You start off by learning about the different muscles in the stomach and how to exercise them. This might sound boring, but it stops you from spending time on training the wrong muscles (which a lot of people do).

You then get treated to a huge section on ab exercises. You could literally spend hours going through them and getting them right, so I would recommend this product for that section alone.

There is also a big section on nutrition, which goes a lot deeper into making a balanced diet than any other product I’ve read before. This section was a bonus to me as usually six pack guides don’t have much on nutrition (usually just “eat leass junk” with added fluff to make it into 20 pages) but “Truth about six pack abs” really delivers on this.

Finally you get a section on cardio exercise too, which as you know is extremely important.

Can anyone use the program to get great abs?

“Truth about six pack abs” is geared towards all ages and sexes, so there doesn’t seem to be any reason why anyone can’t use it to get a six pack.

What are the negatives?

As I always say, there is no such thing as a perfect product, and this is no exception. If you’re looking for a six pack fast guide, this isn’t it. The guide will take you through how to get abs, but you ultimately have to put in the effort over a long period of time to get results.

Overall Verdict

If you want to know exactly how to get a six pack then this is without a doubt the guide for you. While not perfect, it is by far the best available at the moment, and over-delivers when it comes to content.

But you don’t need to take my word for it, as there is a completely free preview at the link below.

So, you’ve decided you want ripped, perfect abs. It’s going to be a tough job to get them, but the first stage is knowing exactly how to get a six pack. So many men and women put huge amounts of effort in without ever seeing the abs they want because they’re going about it the wrong way.

Luckily, you’re one step ahead of most because by reading this article you’ll know exactly how to get a six pack! Many places overcomplicate this, so here is my two step plan to getting a six pack.

Step 1 – Burn the fat
This is the number one mistake washboard-ab-wannabees make. You can have the biggest ab muscles in the world, but if you have a layer of fat covering them no one is ever going to be able to see them! Doing sit-ups, crunches, leg-ups and any other sort ab workouts is great for building the muscle but doesn’t actually burn any calories, so you need to do some cardio exercise as well. Jogging, cycling and swimming are all good ways to burn fat. You also need to make sure you have a healthy diet. Eating lots of junk food is effectively shooting yourself in the foot if you want to get a six pack.

I know what you’re thinking – this already sounds like a lot of work! Well, the truth is, it is a lot of work. But just think of the end result if you need motivation. It’s a great feeling having a six pack!

Step 2 – Build the muscle
Once you’ve started to burn the fat, you now need to build the muscle so in time it’ll burst through to become visible. Like any other muscle, building your ab muscles requires you to exercise them. Things like sit-ups, crunches, leg lifts and v-ups are all ways to do this, but you need to be consistent. Set out a plan for the future and stick to it, with as much variety each day as possible. Don’t try to do too much too soon or you’ll face burnout.

So that’s it! Follow these two steps and you will have a six pack in the future. It all comes down to burning the fat and building the muscle. Of course, it is how you go about these steps that will determine whether you are successful. You need to motivated and dedicated to get a six pack. Knowing how to get a six pack is just one part of the puzzle, so keep browsing this site for all the information you’ll ever need.

It’s no secret that getting a six pack is hard work, so it isn’t a surprise that many people want to know just how long it will take to get a ripped stomach. The problem is there really isn’t an answer to this question as it differs for each person, depending on amount of exercise, amount of muscle building and diet.

Let me start by saying that to get a six pack in the quickest possible time I recommend the method described by “No Nonsense Muscle Building“. It won’t get you great muscles without effort but it’s definitely worth a look for people serious about looking their best.

So how long does it take to get a six pack? If you do a few sit-ups everyday and nothing else then you could be waiting a very long time. Everyone already has a six pack but in most people it can’t show through a layer of fat. So to get a visible six pack and ripped ab muscles you need to build up the muscle and burn the fat at the same time. Most people do the former but not the latter, which leads to frustration. Take a look at six pack exercises for some ideas on how to build muscle.

Getting a six pack is a long process so you need determination. Starting by trying to do it as quickly as possible isn’t a good start, as you’re likely to get disheartened and may even give up. What you need to do is work out a long term plan of muscle building, exercise and healthy eating. It’s probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but it is the only one that is proven to work!

Knowing how long it takes to get a six pack for an individual is almost impossible, but we can make an educated guess. If you are overweight, it is going to take longer as you need to burn off the fat covering the ab muscles first. This doesn’t mean it is impossible though – far from it! It just means you’ll need to keep it up for a longer time.

Getting a six pack is a great achievement, and is even more satisfying because it takes a lot of effort. And remember, once you have the ripped abs you want to be able to keep them! Because of this, it’s vital you realise you’re in it for the long haul. You will get there in the end, but try to stop asking yourself “how long does it take to get a six pack”.

Many people have the misconception that all it takes when toning abs is crunches, sit-ups and other ab exercises. The problem is that if you continue to eat lots of junk food, it doesn’t matter how many crunches you do because you’ll never get a visible six pack.

The reason is that crunches and other ab exercises don’t “burn off” the calories you’ve taken in during the day. You can’t eat badly all day and then work it off by doing sit-ups, it just doesn’t work. The only way to get a visible six pack is through toning your abs as well as burning fat so they can show through. It is much more important to lose weight than it is to build your abs if you want a six pack. Remember you already have a six pack. Everyone does. It just isn’t showing through yet.

That doesn’t mean that you should only burn calories and not do muscle building exercises though, you need a mixture of both. If you throw in healthy eating and a reduced calorie intake you have the perfect recipe for getting the toned ab muscles you’ve always wanted.

When toning your abs, it is also important to remember (like most things in life) that quality beats quantity all the time. If you aren’t doing your sit-ups or crunches correctly, or if you aren’t putting real effort into them, then doing hundreds or even thousands a day isn’t going to do much good. Don’t waste your time. Instead concentrate on doing a smaller amount of good crunches rather than a large amount of poor ones.

In conclusion, getting toned abs is not about doing as many sit-ups as possible, but instead about an overall healthier lifestyle.

Exercise and muscle building will only take you so far towards getting a six pack. You need to also be eating the right foods and having a healthy diet or you’ll never get the great abs you want. The good news is, eating well and having six pack food doesn’t have to be boring.

I spent a long time trying to get a six pack thinking that if I exercised a lot and built ab muscles it would be easy. Unfortunately I missed a large part of the jigsaw by not eating a healthy diet. I was building the muscle but it couldn’t show because I wasn’t losing the fat!

Here are some foods that can help you achieve a six pack.

Most green vegetables – Did you know that most green vegetables actually burn more calories than you take in by eating them? A salad might not be as appetising as chocolate or another snack, but will make it a lot easier to get a sick pack.

Brown bread – Yes, white bread tastes better. I know. But in reality, brown bread isn’t that bad and doesn’t contain all the sugar that goes into white. It’s a lot more healthy eating brown bread or wholemeal bread, so if you’re serious about getting a six pack you should try it.

Lobster – This is a strange one, but eating lobster actually burns more fat than you take in by eating it, so is a good meal choice!

Fruit – For your general health fruit is extremely beneficial.

Chicken – Provides you with nutrition you need.

If we’re being honest, we all know which foods are good for us and which aren’t. Don’t worry about the occasional treat, but if you’re constantly eating junk food you will honestly never get a six pack.

Six pack abs. So many of us want them, but there are so few willing to put in the time and effort to get them. Getting a six pack requires more than just a few crunches everyday for a couple of weeks. You need to be dedicated, motivated and most of all know exactly how to do it. Of course, you need to try and fit in exercise as much as possible. so exercise at work and other places can help a lot if you don’t get much free time at home.

There are three types of people who want a six pack. The first want it but are too lazy to work for it. They will never have one. The second are willing to do the work, but go about it so horribly wrong that they get disheartened after not seeing any results. The third are willing to put in the effort and know what to do. These are the only people who’ll ever get a six pack.

So which one are you? If you read this site, you’re well on your way to being in the third group.

Now that’s out the way, you want to know how to get a six pack in a month. I’m not going to tell you that everyone can do it in that amount of time because it’s simply unrealistic. The good news though is that getting a six pack isn’t as hard as you think, so while it might take some people one month and others six, if you want it you can get it.

Everyone has a six pack already, it just doesn’t show for most people because of the layer of fat covering it. That means you need to reduce the amount of fat content in your body as well as building ab muscles. This is where the majority of people go wrong, as they think that building their stomach muscles through crunches, sit-ups etc is enough. These exercises are great for building abs but don’t burn off many calories, so you need other exercise for that.

Now this is why you can’t say how long it will take individual people to get six packs, as it depends on your bodies fat percentage. If you’re already slim, then you may be able to do it in a month, if not then it’ll take longer. It’s important not to lose weight too quickly as this could make you lose muscle mass also. It needs to be a gradual process.

The best way to lose the body fat is through a set regime of exercise and healthy eating. Trust me, if you go on a crash diet you’re not going to get a six pack. You need to work out how you can lose weight relatively slowly while at the same time building up your ab muscles.

Getting a six pack isn’t really that hard, it just requires some patience and determination. If you have that, armed with the knowledge in this article on how to get a six pack in a month you are on your way to getting washboard abs.

Getting a six pack isn’t just about building up your ab muscles. You also need to lose body fat so those toned muscles can show through. Here are some exercises for both!

Building you ab muscles

Crunches – The staple of building abs, you’ll want to be doing these every day.

1. Lie on your back with your arms crossed across your chest and pull your knees up. You can also put your arms down by your side, but don’t put them behind your neck and pull as this could damage you.
2. Now pull yourself up using your abdomen muscles, as well as raising your shoulders and breathing out. Don’t try and lift your whole back off the floor as this could also damage your spine.
3. Hold for a second, then smoothly bring yourself down to the floor. Without letting your head touch the ground, repeat for however many repetitions you want.

Leg Lifts – A great simple exercise for getting a six pack

1. Again lie on the floor, but this time put your legs straight.
2. Raise your legs until they are at a 90 degree angle with the floor.
3. Hold for a second, then lower your legs. Repeat without touching the floor.

Sit-ups – Another classic six pack exercise, but most people do this one wrong

1. Lie down with your feet flat and knees at ninety degree angle.
2. Cross your hands across your chest.
3. Sit up, with your lower back also coming off the floor (unlike in crunches).
4. Lower slowly down. All the movements should be smooth.

V-ups – A variation on the sit-up but more demanding

1. Lie on the floor with your arms stretched above your head and legs flat on the floor.
2. Bring both your arms and legs up in a V shape (hence the name)
3. Return to how you started slowly and repeat

Fat burning exercises

Jogging – This strikes fear into the hearts of many potential six pack wielders, but is really not that bad. Jogging is a great way to burn off calories to reveal your ever growing abs (if you’re using the above six pack exercises). Start with a short distance and see how it goes, then gradually increase the distance to burn off more calories. You need to be exercising for around 15-20 minutes before your body really starts to burn off fat, so keep that in mind.

Swimming – This can often be a bit more fun than jogging and is a great way to burn fat while at the same time building your muscles throughout your body. Again, start with a small amount of swimming and build up the distance.

Cycling – If you have a bike and a place to safely ride it then cycling can be a lot more entertaining than jogging or swimming. Cycling can actually also help build up your ab muscles at the same time, so is a great six pack exercise.

Also remember to eat the right six pack foods!
